Biological Indicator for steam 270°F/132°C vacuum assisted or 250°F/121°C gravity displacement sterilization cycles, 48 hour readout, Brown cap, (100/box)

The ISO 11138-1:2017 and ISO 11138-3:2017 compliant 3M™ Attest™ Steam Biological Indicator, 1262/1262P, monitors the effectiveness of the steam sterilization process for 250°F/121°C gravity displacement and 270°F/132°C vacuum-assisted steam sterilization cycles and provides a final result in 48 hours.

This self-contained biological indicator (BI) consists of a Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strip and a sealed glass ampoule with growth medium and a bromocresol purple pH indicator system. The spore strip and media ampoule are contained in a plastic vial topped with a brown color-coded cap which includes a chemical process indicator on the label.

When processed, the chemical process indicator changes from rose to brown/black. After the steam sterilization process, the BI is activated to join the growth media with the processed spore strip. Then, the BI is incubated for a visual color change readout at 48 hours. A color change from purple to yellow indicates surviving spores and a positive result.

Suggested applications
  • Monitoring 250°F/121°C gravity and 270°F/132°C vacuum-assisted steam sterilization processes
